New Dynamic Case Report – Patient with GIST

PPO was asked to provide assistance in the case of a 52-year-old male patient with a gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST), and a past medical history that is outlined as follows. In July 2002 the patient presented with a cough, indigestion and a lump in his sternal area. Diagnostic imaging revealed a 30 cm x 16 cm x 10.5 cm multicentric abdominal mass. He underwent debulking surgery including a transverse colectomy demonstrating extensive involvement of the omentum and invasion of the muscularis propria involving both the small and large intestine.
